Tour planners noted that the Flight of Five Tour is designed to be one more opportunity to spread the word about Lockport‚s Erie Canal heritage. This tour will depart from the Erie Canal Discovery Center at 10 AM. Although seriously wounded in the leg, Herkimer kept command during the fierce combat. After the battle, Herkimer was carried home and his leg unskillfully amputated.
